Holocaust Memorial Day Pledge 2025
On this solemn day, I remember the unprecedented horrors of the Holocaust, a tragedy that shook the foundations of modern civilisation. I honour the memory of the six million Jewish men, women, and children, and the countless others who were persecuted, oppressed, and murdered under Nazi tyranny.
I/We ________________________ pledge to ensure that the impact of all Genocides holds a permanent and sacred place in our community’s memory. I stand alongside the survivors who still live among us, whose stories continue to remind us of the resilience of the human spirit and the urgent need for understanding and justice.
I/We commit to teaching future generations about the causes and consequences of the Holocaust, so that they may learn the vital lessons of history and remain vigilant against the forces of hatred. I/We remember not only the victims of Nazi persecution but also those who have perished in all genocides, recognising our collective duty to confront the darkness of our past.
In honouring the bravery of those who risked their lives to save others, I/We uphold the belief that compassion and courage are the touchstones of humanity’s ability to resist evil. Their sacrifices inspire us to act with moral clarity in the face of injustice.
I/We acknowledge that the scars of racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, xenophobia, homophobia and other forms of discrimination persist today. I commit to standing in solidarity with asylum seekers, refugees, and minorities, and to stamping out hate in all its forms. I reaffirm our shared responsibility to build a society free from bigotry, intolerance, and violence.
Through education, remembrance, and reflection, I vow to continue fighting prejudice and discrimination. I/We will promote a world where dignity, respect, and equality prevail for all, ensuring that the lessons of the Holocaust remain a beacon for justice in the years to come.
